Stranger in the Mirror

Greetings from the Philippines! Thanks for checking in! Hope you are in a good health, sound mind and body as you read this post. With confidence that this shall pass soon, I penned a poem describing my feelings and sentiments as of the moment. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t want to infect your world with these negative thoughts and all, I just need to release this so I can live in harmony towards my family, friends, and the people around me. Still, I would greatly appreciate if you stick to this post until the end. Thank you so much!

Stranger in the Mirror

Who are you? What did you do?

Where did you go? Have you suffered?

Why are you afraid? Have you lost your faith?

Who are you escaping from? Did they know it?

Why are you whining and looking at me like that?

Have I known you? Have we met in my reveries?

I can see the traces of agony from your past.

Your face mirrored the battles you have crossed,

chances you have missed, hopes you have wished,

the tears you have wept, words you haven’t said,

dreams you haven’t touched, beauty you haven’t seen,

the love you haven’t felt and the life you haven’t had.

I can also feel the hatred living in your heart

That flows to your veins down to your bones,

Poisoning your entire mind and body, bit by bit,

Dilapidating the last ounce of courage left in you.

Your whole body starts to tremor and grows numb

While the devil plans to invade your core entirely.

Why are you gazing at me like that once again?

Have I condemned you? Have I tortured you?

Have I caused all your anxieties and displeasures?

Have I not uttered the words you wanted to hear?

Haven’t you noticed the resemblances of our sentiments?

You are me and I am you. We are one ill-fated soul.

  1. we are all captives of our own mind, the question (or questions) is how we deal with it. We are many things, to many people but certainly we are not perfect and we all like to put up a white picket fence in front of our persona… but should we? (my response inspired by your thoughts)

    1. This instrospection allowed me to breathe and release the negative thoughts in mind. Hearing your thoughts today adds depth and meaning to what is already thought and written. You’re such a brilliant thinker and writer, I am impressed with the fluidity of your words and the richness of your understanding, dear. Thanks for the visit😀
