Chased by the Waves

If you are reading this, may I tell you this is not really my first blog entry. After several days into blogging,I have utterly realized why I started in the first place.

Back in college, eight years ago,I was a member of the school’s publication which served as the voice of the studentry. Since then,I got fully engrossed with writing news, poems, reviews, and even stories. But to tell you frankly, the tasks and responsibilities I had were never stress-free.

I struggled most in expressing my contemplations due to vocabulary insufficiencies and insecurities. “This is not good enough, I am not good enough”, I could clearly hear myself saying.Deadlines we’re really toxic then, and I hate to say that I wasn’t able to submit the given tasks during cutoffs.

Expectedly, the editors chided me for too much dawdling, and that made me more lethargic and unresponsive. A couple of years later, I quitted.

I write not to impress but to express.

Now, I’m back and I want to restart that fragmented part of my past. I have this robust penchant for writing and I’m more certain to continue it.

Why blogging?

Obviously, using this platform, I can express my thoughts freely without any inhibitions. I have a voice here.

This means that I can spread out the things I like or don’t like, even those things that can help to change the world.

I am writing not to impress but to express. With love and optimism, may the good Lord guide me in this journey I am about to embark on.

  1. I love this so much! This is my first time truly blogging and it’s becoming a great way for me to express myself and let people in on who I am. I hope to reach people who can relate to me and I hope to help others who might need it. Only time will tell how I am doing but great post!

  2. I always remind myself that writing is a need and not a want. I write because it makes me sane, in a manner of speaking.

Don’t write for people, write for you. In fact, it would be best if you didn’t share what you write, because then it’s subject to the harshness of the world.

    Write for you.

By the way, “Lebana” is “Anabel” spelled backwards, isn’t it? I’m sure I’m not the first to notice that. =)

  5. Keep on writing and expressing yourself. Remember though, Listening is a skill that is much more valuable than speaking. Use your writing to help you understand yourself.

  7. Hi Lebana, just wanted to add my encouragement- God has always been less impressed with externals than the ‘hidden (wo)man of the heart. What’s impossible within ourselves is completely possible and more than probable! with the Lord. I pray He blesses you mightily for your heart to share Him with others and magnifies your voice- it is as unique as you are and there’s not another like it . “I write not to impress but to express..” Loved this expression! Think it must be true of us all as we endeavor to find our ‘voice’. Grace & Peace. : )

  8. I have gone through so many writing styles, attempts, imitations, and syntheses. These days I’m just letting it fly and using Grammarly and Power Thesaurus a lot (both free). Hope this helps and thank you so much for your support at my blog. I really do appreciate it. 😍
